Welcome to my blog! My name is Sara and I’m the proud Momma of my 4 year old son, Landon. He loves books, music, and has the most glorious little laugh to go along with his blossoming sense of humor. He also happens to be Autistic and has Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
When my husband and I discovered my son was Autistic with a heaping side of SPD, I survived by going online for advice. I found support in Autism community groups on sites like FB. At first, that was literally the only way I knew we weren’t alone in this journey. I am blessed with a very supportive family but they all live in other parts of the country.
At the time, I didn’t know anyone who was going through the same stage of life dealing with all that comes with Autism. I am beyond grateful for all the online support I found during an extremely challenging time in my life.
However, as Landon’s feeding issues began to emerge shortly after he was 6 months old, I couldn’t find any info online that matched up to what was going on with him. Exhausted from sleepless nights of scouring the internet for sensory feeding resources that just weren’t there.
Plenty of info on picky eaters but very little about oral sensory motor delays and severe textural issues. Even slightly thickened puree was making him gag or vomit. He didn’t even want to open his mouth for it anymore.
My son just didn’t fit the mold of other kids with feeding struggles.
So, I decided to become my own resource while hopefully also helping others who fight the same fight every day. This is a chronicle of our journey so far and what is yet to come.
My hope is you’ve come here and realize you’re not alone in your journey.
